In my accidental exercise series, I wanted to highlight/remind myself of all the different places that can be found to get some good exercise in. Unfortunately, mowing the lawn is one of them. I really, really hate mowing the lawn. I have terrible allergies (that the Kansas City metro area only seems to exacerbate) and we sit on a corner lot of almost an acre of land.
This means that mowing the lawn takes me about two hours, even though we have a fancy self-propelled lawnmower. Harrison claims that it takes him half the time, but I’m thinking his version of self-propelled and my version are completely different.
Either way, one hour or two hours of mowing the lawn can equal a great amount of accidental exercise:
An average pound woman would burn 250-300 calories per hour mowing the lawn.
