I recently had the chance to try out a few full workouts from Shaun T’s latest program, Focus T25. Like most people, I thought, “Oh, 25 minutes, and I did Insanity. This won’t be too hard.”
What you conveniently choose to ignore in the video above is that there are no breaks in the workout like there are in Insanity. There is also no stretching before the rest of the workout so you can catch your breath. From the first minute to the last 25th minute, you are kicking your own booty. At the end of the 25 minutes, there is also a 2-3 minute cool down segment, which still makes the workout less than 30 minutes.
While this program has slightly more of a cardio focus (and I’d like to think Insanity did strength and cardio), I might venture to say cardiovascularly, Focus T25 (NOT an affiliate link) is a lot harder.
At least it feels like that in the moment.
I have loved all the workouts I’ve tried. The only thing I would maybe change are more upper body bodyweight exercises. There are some walking planks and burpees, but I feel like Insanity did a lot better job of building my upper body strength.
I also haven’t tried the workouts that incorporate resistance bands, but I know personally, I’d rather do bodyweight moves instead of having to worry about messing with a resistance band.
Would I recommend Focus T25?
YES! Especially if you are a fan of Shaun T’s programs and want to do a shorter workout.
