Are you all are getting sick of talking about sexism and how women are discriminated against? Well, unless we recognize that it is still happening and call it out as it’s going on, it’s never going to change.
If you really think things are changing, than please tell me why people say I “look tired” if I don’t wear makeup, but if I put some on, I get called out for taking too long or being “too fancy.”
Please tell me why we encourage our girls to speak their mind, but when I’m in a meeting and I tell someone their idea won’t work, I’m called bitchy and too direct.
Please tell me why my husband tells me I’m too pale, but if I use too much self tanner or go to a tanning salon, we tell women they are being fake.
Please tell me why we say we want more girls and women in STEM careers, but when they’re there, they are repeatedly told this is a man’s job and they are distracting in a lab.
Please tell me why I repeatedly told to “SMILE!” when I was waitress (and even now, from strangers in the street), but if we smile too much, we’re psycho/clingy.
Please tell me why a man pointed out I had gained a lot of weight, but when I start upping my workouts to 5 times a week, I’m told to stop talking about how great my workouts are.
Please tell me why women are told to be proactive, and it’s “our nature” to blame for the gender pay gap, but when I run a successful company I have repeatedly had men ask me, “How old are you?”
Please tell me why we tell women they are causing the pay gap because we pass on promotions to take care of our children, but then when we go back to work, we are called terrible mothers, even though it’s been proven that working mothers have no negative impact on a child’s well-being.
Please tell me why I can’t find any shorts for sale that don’t show my ass, and we call women who wear short shorts sluts, but then when I wear basketball shorts because I’m sick of wedgies, I’m jokingly called a lesbian as an insult?
Please tell me why people tell me I don’t look put together if I go out in lounge clothes, but when I look “presentable” in jeans and a blouse, I’m almost always hit on or catcalled, even though I’m usually in an OfficeMax buying highlighters?
Please tell me why my choosing not to talk to you, a stranger, while I’m walking, deserves being called a “dumb bitch.”
Please tell me why a man told me to stop talking about sexism because that’s just making it worse, but yet this shit keeps happening to me?
