To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. – Buddha
You are a busy entrepreneur.
You hardly have the time to exercise and prepare a healthy meal.
Staying fit and healthy is the least of your priorities.
It doesn’t feel right. You know you have to break the habit and start having a balanced healthy life.
So, do it now.
Here are 6 ways you can stay healthy while working from home:
1. Keep a schedule
Figuring out how to effectively spend 24 hours in each day can be challenging especially for entrepreneurs.
This is the reason why you should keep a schedule.
Give time not just for business related activities but also for activities that will enhance your well-being.
Schedule time for workouts, meditation, and afternoon walks. Don’t forget to find time to prepare healthy meals as well.
Also, know when you’d call it a day. Have a “log-out time.”
2. Get enough sleep
Sleep deprivation affects your performance during waking hours. This is scientifically proven.
Here are benefits of good sleep based on studies:
- improve focus and concentration
- increase productivity
- prevent risks of diseases and weight gain
- maximize physical performance
- prevent depression
- strengthen the immune system
So, it is important to get enough sleep. Take power naps as needed.
3. Set up an office space
Create your own sacred place for work. Resist the urge to work in your bedroom.
No matter how limited your space is, have a designated work space in your home so you could separate work life from your personal life.
This will help you minimize distractions from home and keep your focus.
Look into investing in a good comfortable ergonomic chair as well. It’s sure worth it.
4. Eat a balanced diet
Eating right is a key element to staying healthy.
Have a meal plan so you don’t need to worry about what to eat every single day. Make sure your meal plan includes a list of healthy foods and how you would prepare them.
Also, eat at least three meals a day and do not to skip breakfast.
It is always easy to go to the fridge and grab something to eat so make sure you load up on healthy foods.
Our bodies are designed to move. So, get out at least once a day to go for walks.
If you can’t go out, do some workouts at home. Make exercise a part of your daily activities.
6. Have a hobby
Life as an entrepreneur can be really stressful. Having a hobby is a good stress reliever.
It is important to have a life away from your desk.
Find time to work on something you truly love doing. Do some crafts, paint a masterpiece, start baking again… Do something else aside from working on your business.
7. Build a support system
Staying healthy emotionally is important too. Make sure you involve your family.
Make sure you involve your family in every step of the way.
Discuss boundaries with your children. Let them know that it is important that you won’t be disturbed while working.
Look for like-minded people you can connect with. The social aspect of well-being is important too.
8. Know when to stop
You can’t just go on and on.
Remember your schedule? Stick to it. Define a “switch-off” time and resume the next day.
Totally stop when being an entrepreneur is starting to take a toll on your health or your relationships.
